Publication date 2014

This Standard Practice covers factory-made, seamless and electric welded carbon and low-alloy steel, butt-welding fittings for use in high pressure gas and oil transmission and distribution systems; including pipelines, compressor stations, metering and regulating stations, and mains. This Standard Practice governs dimensions, tolerances, ratings, testing, materials, chemical and tensile properties, heat treatment, notch toughness properties, manufacture, inspection and marking for high-strength, butt-welding fittings NPS 60 and smaller. Dimensional requirements for NPS 14 and smaller are provided by reference to ASME B16.9.
The term “welding fittings” applies to butt-welding fittings such as elbows, segments of elbows, return bends, caps, tees, single or multiple-outlet extruded headers, reducers, and extensions and transition sections(1). Girth weld requirements are outside the scope of this Standard Practice and are covered by the applicable ASME B31 Code for Pressure Piping and/or customer specifications.
Fittings may be made to special dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances, or of wrought materials other than those covered by this Standard Practice by agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser. When such fittings meet all other stipulations of this Standard Practice they shall be considered as being in partial compliance therewith, providing they are appropriately marked.
Fittings manufactured in partial compliance, as provided in Section 1.4, shall be identified with “Part” following the respective grade designation.

This Standard Practice covers the material, application, and performance requirements for liquid or powder interior coatings for valves, hydrants, and fittings. In addition, this Standard Practice covers equipment used to conduct holiday tests on coatings.
These coatings are applied to interior ferrous surfaces of valves, hydrants, and fittings intended for use in water, drinking water, or reclaimed and wastewater systems where corrosion protection is specified.
Where it is necessary, because of the application process or purchase requirements, the coating may also be specified for exterior use, with recognition that performance parameters may vary from those specified for interior use because of differences in exposure conditions.

Purpose: To provide a Standard Practice covering most of the significant valves and fittings used in drinking water service-line systems including both buried and non-buried valves, fittings, meter setters, and service saddle clamps.
Scope: This Standard Practice covers valves and fittings in sizes NPS 1/2 through NPS 2, for use in drinking water system service-lines between the main and the meter.

Publication date 2015

This Standard Practice covers quarter-turn eccentric cast iron plug valves having flanged, threaded, mechanical joint, or grooved end connections. This Standard Practice is intended for resilient-seated valves with a circular, rectangular, or other geometric seat configuration, having no visible evidence of leakage. The size range covered is NPS 3 through NPS 72 (DN 80 through DN 1800). Typical applications are sewage, sludge, waste water, and water service. The manufacturer should be consulted for other applications.
Conditions of water hammer, hydraulic pulsation, and excessive operating noise are results of the system design rather than valve design and require special design and construction considerations.

Publication date 2014

This Standard Practice establishes requirements for ductile iron swing check valves with flanged, threaded, mechanical-joint, and push-on ends for general purpose. This Standard Practice covers check valves for installation in pipelines that are horizontal or in pipelines where flow is above horizontal up to vertical with flow upward. This Standard Practice describes ductile iron check valves in two categories:
Class rated valves, assigned a pressure and temperature rating as prescribed in an appropriate ASME standard.
Valves limited to Cold Working Pressure (CWP) which are only limited to water service.
This Standard Practice also includes, directly or by reference, requirements for chemical and physical properties of materials and pressure tests.

Publication date 2010

This Standard Practice covers pressure-temperature ratings, materials, dimensions, tolerances, marking, and testing. The welding neck type flanges shall be forged steel, and the blind flanges may be made of either forged steel or from steel plates.
Dimensional and tolerance requirements for sizes NPS 10 and smaller are provided by reference to ASME B16.5. When such flanges are made of materials meeting Table 1 requirements and meet all other stipulations of this standard, they shall be considered as complying therewith.
SP-44 is Incorporated By Reference into the Code of Federal Regulations and contains construction details not covered by other standards; including P/T ratings of products made of high-yield strength materials (e.g., for users that have flanged joints, flanged valves, and flanged fittings).
